The One Who Prays FOR You

Image
I was reading Romans last night and went through Chapter 8.  There are all kinds of absolutely amazing examples of God's incredible adoption for those who love Him, but the one which blows me away the most is: 26  Likewise the Spirit also helpeth our infirmities: for we know not what we should pray for as we ought: but the Spirit itself maketh intercession for us with groanings which cannot be uttered. 27  And he that searcheth the hearts knoweth what is the mind of the Spirit, because he maketh intercession for the saints according to the will of God. (King James version) 26  In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness, for we do not know how we should pray, [ ad ]  but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with inexpressible groanings.  27  And he [ ae ]  who searches our hearts knows the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit [ af ]  intercedes on behalf of the saints according to God’s will. We Need a Hero

Honesty is Truth. Truth is the foundation stones all of society is built on. If, however, you start adding layers of falsehood, which is made of Lies, on top of a foundation of Truth, the Lies have a corrosive effect on the upper part of the structure and it eventually collapses back down to the solid layers of Truth, which, like Love, never fails. We are heading there now, at a very rapid pace. One thing I value very highly in someone is the ability and humility to admit they were wrong. That is the height of honesty.  Whatever standard I hold anyone else to I must also hold myself to or otherwise be a hypocrite. As we find we are being lied to all around, our collective eye becomes steadily more jaded. As our politicians just continually lie to us and mislead us, and drive us further into irreversible calamity, we start looking for a hero to fix it all. I am going to tell you, that perceived hero is soon to come upon our scene, but he is going to be the biggest letdown of...

In the Snow, Uphill, Both Ways...

Our little existence could, for 99 percent of the time, be easily plotted on a map as between Renfrew, Shawville Quebec, Pembroke, and Eganville, and back to Renfrew. This we considered the Heart of the Valley, Forester's Falls being the absolute center, of course. I must have been into my teens before the thought that Forester's Falls wasn't the center of the worthwhile world even entered my mind. Like I said before, we had Dittburner's there, with snazzy new Case and David Brown tractors on display at all times with orange paint on their wheels and chassis that looked good enough to eat. Hey, I'm a farmboy tractor guy, and everything I ever write is going to have a farmboy tractor guy flavour to it. I can't help it. My addiction doesn't have a known cure and I don't want them to find it, either. So, we could buy virtually any farm equipment, most farm supplies short of feed and seed and fencing at Dittburner's, and appliances as well. And we did:...

H. Dittburner & Son, Foresters Falls

Image
Any time of the year could result in an impromptu visit to H. Dittburner & Son on Main Street in tiny Foresters Falls for anything from a welding job or tube of grease to a new Case or David Brown tractor. A New Holland Haybine, a Pioneer chainsaw, or a McClary electric range or refrigerator were all possibilities. Dittburner's wasn't a big dealership by some measures, but it was VITAL and busy. Any farm with New Holland hay and harvesting equipment in particular relied heavily upon it, and Roy Dittburner saw to it that they were taken care of in the best possible fashion. Bales of twine were stacked neatly inside the entrance during the summer to be right at the ready on a hay day when you ran out and had to make a "dash to Dittburner's". Such was their attention to detail for the customer. As small potatoes as the Bowes operation was, each time Dad and I would go in, Roy would personally come out of his office to meet us with his signature huge smile and a g...
