The Ants vs the People
I had a crazy dream last night. The Earth was taken over by a group of ants from another world. Not swarms. A group. Not invaded. Taken over.
The ants were really big for ants, about 4 inches or so tall when standing. They could speak, but didn't very much or very often. Their entire power lay in their convincing oratory, and they very quickly convinced the citizens of the world that they and their kind, as ants, had more right to the resources of the Earth than humans.
So, the majority of humanity willingly lined up for sterilization shots. Then it was just a matter of time, waiting for them to die off. The ants were patient; they had to be. The people that knew better than to offer their bodies up to beings that hated them were hoped to be unsustainable numbers, or could be hunted down and exterminated by the others, because the mere ants couldn't do anything themselves.
The ants had no desire for property, for money, for silver, or for gold. They only wanted the vegetation of the Earth for their kind. While they had no desire for property, for money, for silver, or for gold, they did have uses for it: for seducing human Enforcers to control groups of people in the villages, towns, and cities of the Earth. For the best property and large amounts of wealth, the Enforcers, while they lived, would oversee the populace and report any 'wrongdoing' according to the laws and rules of conduct the ants laid down.
The people could have stepped on the ants and ended them. The ants' only form of power was manipulation; mind control. They were powerless without it, and yet the people willingly submitted themselves to it, to their great regret and surmise.
