Heaven Received A New Angel

"Heaven got another angel". "Heaven has received a new angel". "Heaven needed another angel".

We hear those phrases often when someone dies. It's just not true, no matter how it is worded. Especially the "Heaven needed another angel" one. Heaven, the perfect Home and Throne of God, doesn't need anything. It is complete and perfect.

Nobody becomes an angel when they die. Nobody. You might not like that but that's the way it is. The truth is actually much better than that.

Angels are beings created by God. And we are too. So what separates us from angels? One very, VERY distinct thing: When we sinned, and fell short of the glory of God, Jesus came and gave His life for us that we may be saved.

When angels sinned and fell, they became demons and can never be redeemed. Ever. They are eternally condemned with no path to Salvation available to them because they saw and lived in the Glory of God and then foolishly rejected Him.

People also say that when someone is saved, the angels rejoice. That isn't exactly true either. While they may very well be glad, particularly our guardian angels, what the Bible actually says is:

"๐‘–๐‘› ๐‘กโ„Ž๐‘’ ๐‘๐‘Ÿ๐‘’๐‘ ๐‘’๐‘›๐‘๐‘’ ๐‘œ๐‘“ the angels", not "the angels". Who is "in the presence of the angels"? God the Father and Jesus Christ the Son. Also the 24 elders and the 4 creatures, but that verse isn't referring to them. It is referring directly to Who sits on the throne. God the Father and God the Son are so happy someone comes to wisdom of their sin and accepts the priceless, eternal gift of salvation that they openly rejoice, knowing that person is now delivered from the eternal punishment of Hell.

Angels aren't sweet, puny, cuddly little beings. That' couldn't be further from the truth. They are holy, mighty, and frightening in their power. Any time someone encountered an undisguised angel in the Bible, they were terrified. Even when the angel appeared to the shepherds to announce the good news of the coming birth of Jesus Christ our Saviour, there was fear in them, not the desire to cuddle him:

That's the King James version. Most versions of the Bible translate "sore afraid" as "terrified".

Angels would ๐‘š๐‘Ž๐‘Ÿ๐‘ฃ๐‘’๐‘™ at the fact the Lord loved us so much He gave His life for us that we may be saved. He didn't do that for the angels that sinned against Him like we have. That's an extremely big difference.

We don't become angels when we die. Angels serve God and tend to His bidding. God doesn't serve the angels. But God, through His Son, Jesus Christ, served us, by giving His life as the only possible redemption for our sins to save us from having to pay the fearful price ourselves for them.

Now, one of the many ways we can in return serve Him is to tell the world the Truth about our need for Salvation so others don't go to the place reserved for the devil and his fallen angels. And to unravel untruths that can lead to idolatry such as that we become angels when we die.
