No Other Name

"I'm a good person so I'm going to Heaven when I die".

Maybe. Although I have to tell you that your chances in that regard are pretty slim.

Nobody automatically goes to Heaven unless they were absolutely perfect, every last single second of their lives.

Were you absolutely perfect? Did you never, ever sin? Never tell a lie, never steal, never lust, never be jealous over other people's possessions, never take the Lord's Name in vain, never hold or look at any figure as a god, never disobey your parents, etc...? If that's the case, then, yes, you are automatically going to Heaven when you die. In case you are wondering, you would only be the second person in history to ever do so. Jesus was the first. And by now you know you will not be the second.

So how do you get there if you haven't lived an absolutely perfect, sinless life? Jesus said it plain and simple so we could not make any mistake about it:

John 14:6  Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

That's it.

Acts 4:12 Neither is there salvation in any other: for there is none other name under heaven given among men, whereby we must be saved.

No other name but Jesus.

John 5:24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.

John 11:25 Jesus said unto her, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth in me, though he were dead, yet shall he live:

John 11:26 And whosoever liveth and believeth in me shall never die. Believest thou this?

Acts 16:31 And they said, Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and thou shalt be saved, and thy house.

Romans 10:9 That if thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus, and shalt believe in thine heart that God hath raised him from the dead, thou shalt be saved.

There's a theme here, and it's a very simple one. We are not told to believe in any religion, any church, any cult, any statue or painting or carving, or do any particular thing or litany of things. No. We are told to believe in Jesus. To trust Him. Everything else falls into place after that. Do not be deceived. There is simply no other way.

John 3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

Mark 16:16 He that believeth and is baptized shall be saved; but he that believeth not shall be damned.

Those last two verses drives it home: believe in Jesus and be saved; don't believe in Him and be condemned, meaning be condemned to Hell. And not for a little while - forever; for eternity. Where you spend your eternity is no joke. Don't get it wrong. Salvation is simple, friend. It is not rocket science and does not take countless years of intently scouring texts to come to a deeply hidden clue. It is instant. And forever.

As simple as ABC:

A: Admit you a sinner and need forgiveness.

B: Believe in Jesus and His ability to forgive your sin.

C: Confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord".

1John 1:9 If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

That's salvation. And it's only up to you and the Lord Who will grant it to you.
