The Never Ending Night

This story is dedicated to our dear friend and best man at our wedding, Terry Adams (December 18, 1948 - March 10, 2019), because it was his favorite one of all my calamities. Bev, our hearts are especially with you at this time of year. This is a long read. Hopefully you find it worth your while. (For all the younger set out there, the events of this story were in the days before cell phones came out of the womb right  after you, so they weren't a thought, much less any sort of an option) There's a run of bad luck, and then there's runs, plural, of bad luck. I seem to be adept at it. Totally unwillingly so, but adept nonetheless. And hapless to boot.
